We offer specialist psychological assessment and interventions for people of all ages and cultural backgrounds with a wide range of presenting difficulties. These include supporting individuals and their families affected by:

  • Depression and other mood disorders
  • Anxiety (generalised, social, health and phobias)
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Trauma and Post-traumatic stress
  • ADHD
  • ASD and other developmental difficulties
  • Gender dysphoria
  • Bereavement
  • Insomnia and other sleep difficulties
  • Relationship difficulties

If you or your child has suicidal ideation or are actively self-harming, we are ethically and professionally bound to ensure that you are under the care of an NHS service providing a multi-disciplinary team approach or an independent psychiatrist. We can assist in making appropriate referrals to both and will seek to do so before engaging you or your child in psychological therapy.

Psychological Therapies

Our psychological therapists are trained in a range of therapeutic approaches including

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on addressing psychological distress by examining the relationship between thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and bodily sensations. It is based on the premise that our beliefs influence our feelings, and by identifying and challenging negative or irrational thinking, we can change our emotional and behavioural responses. Through a structured and collaborative process, CBT helps people develop more realistic and adaptive ways of thinking and coping with life’s challenges.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

CFT  was developed to help people who struggle with anxiety, anger, shame and self-criticism, but is now used more widely. Compassionate mind training (involving the use of ideas and exercises that promote compassion for ourselves and others) is used to help people develop inner warmth, security and soothing. This in turn helps emotion regulation.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR helps people process the negative images, beliefs, body sensations and emotions associated with traumatic past experiences that affect mental health and wellbeing. It involves using bilateral stimulation (engaging both sides) of the brain combined with talking therapy in a specific and structured format.

Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)

NET supports the processing of difficult memories through discussion focused on the chronological order of life events. This facilitates the integration of distressing memories into the wider autobiographical narrative and allows a deeper exploration of associated negative beliefs.

Systemic Interventions

Systemic interventions include family therapy, parenting support and couples’ therapy. Sessions provide a space to facilitate communication and emotional expression in order to improve relationships. Understanding difficulty in the context of the family system, as opposed to located within individual family members promotes a non-judgmental experience for all, often resulting in faster progress and attainment of goals.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT aims to help people develop psychological flexibility and live a more meaningful life. It is based on the premise that suffering is a normal part of the human condition and that attempts to control or eliminate unwanted thoughts or feelings can lead to further distress. ACT incorporates a range of strategies and experiential exercises to help people accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment and commit to actions that align with their values and goals.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness involves paying attention to the present moment with non-judgmental awareness. Regular practice of mindfulness helps to cultivate an attitude of curiosity, openness and acceptance towards one’s thoughts, feelings and physical sensations. A mindful approach to life’s challenges encourages us to observe our experiences and respond according to our values, rather than with impulsivity. Mindfulness techniques include guided meditation, breathing exercises and daily activities practiced with full awareness. These practices enhance self-awareness and emotion regulation.

Medico-Legal Work

ACT & Mindfulness in Medico Legal Work

We offer psychological assessment and treatment to individuals or families affected by accident or injury. This frequently includes a comprehensive psychological assessment and report detailing background factors, the impact of the accident and recommendations for psychological support. We work with the individuals affected and the wider team of professionals involved.

Group Therapy

Group therapy supports the process of normalising experiences and facilitates the development of a supportive network. Participants with similar emotional difficulties will be encouraged to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences in a confidential setting, and reflective discussions will be facilitated by the psychologist. Participants may also be encouraged to take some behavioural steps towards their goals, with the support and community of the group.

Reflective Practice

We offer structured reflective group sessions to organisations wishing to support their staff to develop psychological flexibility and improve interpersonal relationships. This typically results in enhanced staff experience and professional performance.

Supervision

We offer psychological supervision to a range of trained practitioners, and we also ensure our psychologists receive a high level of supervision. Individual and peer supervision is a cornerstone of our psychological practice. We value having a non-judgmental space to reflect on all aspects of clinical work. Supervision is also vital in ensuring the quality and ethical practice of the supervisee. It involves in depth case discussion, balancing confidentiality with safeguarding and ultimately helping Psychologists develop their skills and knowledge.

Teaching and Training

We offer bespoke teaching and training events for schools, businesses, and charitable organisations. Please contact us to discuss your organisations aims for developing a culture of emotional resilience and employee wellbeing.
